An uncertain date, handwritten notes and the Acropolis sinking into the sea: the Object of the Month for August focuses on Stefan Moses’ “photoplastik dame mit barsoi” from the DFA Archive. The photomontage raises questions about its origins and place within Moses’ work.
In 1974, Axel M. Mosler, then a 21-year-old photography student, met Salvador Dalí at his home in Port Lligat and captured the artist in an extraordinary series of portraits. More than 50 years later, the long-hidden photographs have been rediscovered. Mosler recounts this special encounter on WDR.

The DFA regularly invites international guest curators to select from the entire pool of members’ works. This selection is evaluated by the guest curator and publicly made available on the Academy's website. For contemporary photographers, new avenues of public interest can be opened up in this way, including opportunities for their work to become the subject of current public debates.

Previously, she was curator at KUNST HAUS WIEN from 2014-2022 and curator of the FOTO WIEN photo festival from 2019-2022.
