Obituary 1940-2026

Timm Ulrichs (1940–2026) was associated with the German Photographic Academy for many years, serving as an appointed member and surprise guest at conferences, as well as being an artist who uniquely combined photography, language and concept. Although his appearances were often spontaneous, his contributions left a lasting mark. Following his death on 29 April, the DFA lost a headstrong, alert and unforgettable colleague.

Guest Curators

The DFA regularly invites international guest curators to select from the entire pool of members’ works. This selection is evaluated by the guest curator and publicly made available on the Academy's website. For contemporary photographers, new avenues of public interest can be opened up in this way, including opportunities for their work to become the subject of current public debates.
