The 2024 Award Winner: Eamonn Doyle

The David Octavius ​​Hill Medal has been awarded since 1955, mostly in the rhythm of three years. She draws artistic photographic works of special rank and/or personalities who have made a contribution to artistic photography.
Eamonn Doyle is an Irish photographer, producer of electronic music, DJ and owner/manager of the record label D1 Recording. His published photo books include Trilogie I, On and End, which plays in his hometown Dublin.

Eamonn Doyle completed his studies at IADT in 1991 with a diploma in photography. The next twenty years he spent producing music and working in the independent music industry. He founded the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival (Deaf) as well as the record labels D1 Recordings and Dead Elvis. Doyle returned to photography in 2008, and his first photo book “I” was released in March 2014. Most of his works are created in and around the city center of Dublin, where he has lived in the past 20 years, which proves that some of the best photographs can be taken on their own front door.

The award ceremony took place as part of the DFA conference on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the Florian-Waldeck hall in the Museum Zeughaus C5 in Mannheim.

The laudation held Celina Lunsford, artistic director of the photography forum Frankfurt and former Vice President of the DFA. The jazz pianist Antoine Spranger designed the musical framework.
