Editing Challenge | Wolfgang Zurborn vs. Florian von Wissel

On 31 March 2022, photo book expert Wolfgang Zurborn competed against Florian von Wissel (BUMMBUMM BOOKS, Cologne) to create a book dummy from Torsten Schumann's photographic material. In the Zoom Talk, the experts present their approach and discuss their results with the audience. Finally, Torsten evaluated the book dummies. Anyone who has always wanted to look over the shoulder of experts editing photo books will get an insight into the art of the photo book.

Florian von Wissel has been working as a freelance communication designer (Dipl.-Des.) since 1994, specialising in design development/creation and overseeing projects in the areas of print and web. Since 2000 as founder in association with the Cologne design office hoop-de-la - design. In 2019, he founded BUMMBUMM BOOKS with Ute Behrend as an autonomous and independent publishing house. Without being bound by directives, the two can thus live up to their standards of content, design and quality and use their many years of experience as picture authors and book designers in a meaningful way.

Wolfgang Zurborn is a DFA board member and founder of the Cologne Lichtblick School. He is internationally known for his photo book workshops.

DFA member Torsten Schumann says of his work: "When I feel a resonance between my mood and the surroundings, I take photos intuitively and feed my inner squirrel with them." In this presentation we see how well this works in his new adopted country China.
