Contemporary testimony in the podcast, brennpunkt magazine 01/2024, page 52-55

As a historian, DFA member Christoph Linzbach is always a critical assessor. In the current photo magazine "brennpunkt," he has taken the DFA podcasts on photo history as an opportunity to reflect on the handling of contemporary testimony.

He uses several examples to highlight the different functions of the DFA interviewees as experts, researchers and first and second-degree contemporary witnesses. Linzbach spans an arc from the possibilities and limitations of eyewitness testimony to the central role of contextualizing their statements to the culture of remembrance and inner realities.

An important contribution to a source-critical approach in times of increasing "alternative facts" also in the audio field.
