About

I grew up in the most diverse places in the Federal Republic of Germany and have lived in the Metropole Ruhr since 1998. In 2017, I will have completed my Master's degree in "Photography Studies and Practice" at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, after having already completed a diploma course with a focus on photography at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund in 2003. I work as an individual artist and collectively at the interface of photography, performance and media installation.

Statement

"The way we photograph and represent the world changes the way we understand it." My works at the interface between photography and media installation are a search for the essence of photographic images, how do they emerge, what do they reflect, how do they correspond to existing space and how do they change our current perception? A special focus of my work is the examination of the photographic image as a means of investigating space and time. The focus is on the process of experimental image finding and image formation. Space-image concepts are created on an installative-performative level. My work asks about the scope of action of the technical image prevailing in the present in art and what role the medium of photography plays here. Dealing with the diversity and multitude of photographic images in analogue and digital media requires the development of new forms of perception. As an artist I have the possibility to illuminate, bring into consciousness and question the images that shape our existence with all forms of visual media. It is the "crack" in the habitual that makes us see new images again and again. Man with his body is the place where images are created and perceived. The medium of photography and projection allows me the specific representation of seen and experienced images. I bring the images to light and thus at the same time the apparatus of the medium of photography used.
