Freshly arrived in the archive

PhD thesis on Argentine photography of postwar modernism by Julieta Pestarino: Prácticas modernas. Fotografía y grupalidad en La Carpeta de los Diez, ArtexArte-Editionen, Buenos Aires, first edition 2023, 244 pp.

Several years ago, Julieta Pestarino had requested in the DFA archives for her PhD thesis at the University of Buenos Aires. We were able to provide material for her research. In an exemplary exchange of knowledge, the published work of the specialist in Latin American photography has now reached us.

GDL member Annemarie Heinrich also belonged to the photographer group La Carpeta de los Diaz (Group of Ten). In the DFA Podcast#21 about her, one can also learn about this group, the German-Argentinean photography exchange of the 1950s and the importance of Annemarie Heinrich for photography in Argentina.

Julieta Pestarino is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the interdisciplinary „4A Laboratory: Art Histories, Archaeologies, Anthropologies, Aesthetics“ at the Institute of Art History in Florence until the end of 2023.
