Hendrik Faure has enriched the DFA conferences with lectures on numerous occasions, always bringing along a selection of his heliogravure prints, which he generously gave away to members. DFA colleague Christoph Linzbach visited Faure for several days to observe the complex and seemingly outdated intaglio printing process: “Only those who have witnessed the creation of a heliogravure from start to finish can truly appreciate the artist and his work.” Linzbach's detailed report, published in the photo magazine “Schwarzweiß,” is probably the most precise description of the heliogravure process currently available and, at the same time, a portrait of the idiosyncratic artist.
