New addition to the DFA Photographic Collection: Heliogravure by Hendrik Faure, format 18x24 cm, 2023.

Accompanying the current podcast with Hendrik Faure, the DFA is pleased to announce a donation by Faure for its Photographic Collection. The work is not only a complex photographic discourse, but in a sense a time capsule for the upheaval of image-making in 2022/2023.

On view is DFA member Boris Eldagsen, who presents the world's first AI-only copperplate photogravure (by Faure). This snapshot was captured by DFA member Wolfgang Zurborn during Eldagsen's AI lecture at the 2022 Winter Conference. Hendrik Faure exposed Zurborn's "binary image file" as a negative and then executed it as a photograph.
