Self-portrait of Willy Zielke
The photo and film avant-gardist Willy Zielke became a member of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Lichtbildner in 1929. In the current podcast with Dieter Hinrichs, we talk about Zielke's film work. For this exemplifies which form of avant-garde aesthetics was sidelined in the 1930s.
To accompany the podcast, here is a self-portrait of Willy Zielke on the Belles and Howell 35mm camera from 1935. Zielke bequeathed this photo with a dedication to the DFA/GDL archive in 1985
