The DFA is delighted to present the exhibition IN THE SHADOW OF SILENCE as part of the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles 2026.

Using the family as their subject, the artists powerfully explore the tensions between closeness and distance, belonging and individual freedom. The family is portrayed not as a harmonious sanctuary, but as a place of transmission, shaping influences, power and care – as a microcosm of social relations. Lineage, affinities and historical interconnections become visible through ruptures, overlaps and subtle nuances. (Claude W. Sui)
