DFA Podcast #23 | Simone Demandt: Between Abstraction and Representation

DFA-Podcast #23 | Simone Demandt: Between Abstraction and Representation

Simone Demandt came to photography via art. Her works are always serial and range from almost social-documentary portraits to completely abstract compositions.

At the same time, the trigger is often a concrete biographical occasion - getting lost in a dark building at night, or the sudden worry about a child.

"I react to the life around me. I am curious about how objects, spaces and items reflect what we imagine our lives to be," says Simone Demandt.

In the podcast with Andreas Langen, the DFA photographer talks about the balance of chance and control, Madonnas made of explosives and why abstract images are relieving.
