About

I have been photographing since my early youth. The first important name of a photographer for me was Henry Cartier-Bresson. My idol was David Hemmings in "Blow up" with his attitude, oscillating between the social and the beautiful, melancholically pondering the reality of photography in general, and all in white jeans. But family reasons made me study and pursue a social profession until I dared to show my photos in public.

Statement

I usually work on series, topics that occupy me right now. I'm often concerned with identity, human traces, images that give me associations.

Peter Loewy | Jewishness (1996)

Being Jewish is not a full-length program. We have many identities. How do they mix? How close do I have to be to corresponding objects, symbols? How much distance do I need for other personal things?

It is said works of art have an aura. But what makes an aura and where does it come from? Does it float in the air of the studios and lays itself on the works when they leave the room? Maybe I wanted to get a sense of, catch, and take along some of it.

Peter Loewy | Drawings (2011)

In the 19th century, there was a dispute about what was more realistic, art or photography. I photographed portrait drawings slightly blurred and b/w and kept the photos to the drawings. They confirmed the arrogance of photography. However, good, realistic drawings were needed. My thanks go to them.

They say the best camera is the one you have with you, the smartphone. After I played with it for about 10 years (since 2004), the time seemed ripe for a publication of these personal photos, which perhaps refer to past or future series, but were created by the way.
