About

I am contemporary, photographer and journalist. I am interested in the world - how it became what it is today, and what it can still become. To understand this and to participate in it constructively, I use text and images. They are wonderful tools.

Statement

Call it romantic, kitschy or hackneyed - I stick to the old ideal that person and work are at best one. Therefore, as in the self-description: I am contemporary, photographer and journalist. I am interested in the world - how it became what it is today, and what it can still become. To understand this and to participate in it constructively, I use text and images. They are wonderful tools.

die arge lola (Kai Loges + Andreas Langen) | Next door Auschwitz - The Neighborhoods of the Camps Auschwitz I - III (2012 - 2017)

Auschwitz has been examined widely and is visited by millions each year. Nevertheless there is a terrain almost unknown: the neighborhoods of the camps. Our project explores the history and present state of these neighborhoods: How is living in the shadow of historical trauma, and how do we deal with it today?

die arge lola (Kai Loges + Andreas Langen) | On Democracy (2009 - ongoing)

"On Democracy" is an observation of processes, places and people linked to democracy and the crisis it faces - from the everyday-object of a filebox used in public authorities to the relics of terroristic assaults to the traces of the dramatic protest on Euromaidan at Kiev. - When shown as exhibition, we add an interactive device that is a kind of sculpture.

die arge lola (Kai Loges + Andreas Langen) | Real Rooms (1994 - ongoing)

"Real Rooms" is a series of interior-photographs in a strictly documentary way, which means we do not interfere with the scenes we randomly find. The pictures show traces of time, use and design without designers - a visual cronicle from museums, canteens, churches, hospitals, labs und other non-private spaces.
